Search Autocomplete dropdown

I noticed when a user starts to type in search that a bulleted list appears. I also noticed the coded class and ID are “search-autocomplete.” However, it does not appear that you can select from that list in order to complete the search text entry. Nor does it link to a product page.

Could you tell me what the point is or should these items be linked?
