Rewrite management issues…

Hello again, i have a question here. Since i dont have much experience with magento i dont know what is wrong with my redirects. Two times i have created rewrites for all the subcategories from my main nav so that the links went straight to the single product pages, not the category pages. Fore some reason the rewrites disappeared twice; like the original paths which i have deleted while creating the rewrites suddenly appeared back on the back end.
Would you be able to advise what may cause this. My cache is disable; i did not reindex any data…
