sns simen theme very slow

I just purchased the theme a little over a month ago. The theme is very slow. My home page takes a very long time to load. Almost 60 seconds according to pingdom.com.
ALso, there is a gear wrench on the right side of the page which allows users to choose there theme color. How do I disable this?
