Opening Home page is extremely slow, while other pages are lightening fast

Dear,
We purchased this cool theme a few months ago and it’s running on our website now. Everything looks perfect except one thing: it takes more than 10 seconds to open the home page. – No matter first time open or refresh it.

We are certain that it’s not about server or network speed problem because the website is running a very powerful VPS. And every other page can be opened within 1 second. Very likely it’s a theme program problem to us.

From https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed, we can see about 10’s are spend to prepare the page. From our server we can see a mysql thread consumes a lot of resource during that period – which doesn’t make sense to open a home page.

Can anyone help us to solve this problem ? Using a full page cache is the last choice for us to solve this problem.
