Hot Deal Not Working

The “Hot Deal” section on the home page stops working if I change
admin -> SNS Theme -> SNS Products -> Product Source from “Catalog” to Product”

I would like to be able to specify the product ID’s to show in the section, but we still need the hot deals to work. Seems to stop working If I change the product source. Please see image.
